These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Wunderwerk LLC, which operates House Rules, the app and the website at houserule.app. By creating an account, continuing past setup or using House Rules, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use House Rules.
If a translation of these Terms differs from the English version, the English version applies.
Who can use House Rules
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you. Some games, including games with simulated gambling, are only for players aged 18 and over, so tell us your age range honestly.
You are responsible for your account and what happens with it. Keep your sign-in secure, and do not share, sell or transfer your account.
Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abuse
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Do not create, publish, send or share anything, including games, game ideas, names, chat messages and reports, that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone;
- attacks or demeans people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or similar traits, including slurs;
- sexualizes minors or shows child sexual abuse, which we report to the authorities;
- is sexually explicit or pornographic;
- promotes violence, terrorism, self-harm or illegal activity;
- impersonates someone, misleads people about who you are, or shares someone else's private information;
- infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights; or
- is spam, a scam or malicious code.
Do not harass players through games or reports, cheat in ways that affect other players, get around limits, blocks or restrictions, disrupt the service, or use automated tools to access it without our permission. Ordinary profanity is allowed; slurs and hate are not.
Reporting, blocking and muting
Use Report on a game, a chat message, a player or a Tutor answer to tell us about anything that breaks these Terms, or email us. You can also block a player and mute chat on your device. We review reports and aim to act on them within 24 hours.
Your content and our licence
You keep ownership of the games, ideas, names, messages and other content you create on House Rules. You are responsible for your content and must have the right to share it.
You give Wunderwerk LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, adapt (for example to translate or format it, or to make cover art), display and distribute your content in order to operate, provide and improve House Rules. When you publish a game, anyone signed in to House Rules can find it, play it and invite others to play it. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies other players already hold, such as tables, results and chat, and records we must keep.
AI features
House Rules uses AI services from OpenAI to create and edit games, play AI opponents, answer Tutor questions, translate text and make artwork. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, offensive or similar to other content. It is provided as is, without any promise that it is accurate or suitable for a purpose. Check anything important, and do not rely on it for advice outside the game.
You are responsible for the games and content you publish, including AI output you choose to use. Do not use AI features to create content these Terms prohibit. We may refuse AI requests and remove AI output.
Chips, scores and game items
Chips, points, scores, wins, achievements and other game items are just for fun. They have no monetary value, are not your property, and cannot be bought, sold, exchanged or cashed out. House Rules has no real-money gambling. We may change or reset them at any time.
Enforcement, suspension and termination
If you break these Terms, put others at risk or expose us to legal risk, we may remove content, delete chat messages, unpublish games, stop you from opening or joining tables, and suspend or close your account, usually without notice. We may keep records and report illegal content to the authorities.
You can stop using House Rules at any time and delete your account in Settings. We may change, pause or end features or the service, and we will try to give notice of major changes.
Appeals
If you think we removed your content or restricted your account by mistake, email us within 30 days from the address linked to your account, or include your player name. Tell us what happened and why you disagree. A person will review your appeal and tell you the outcome.
The service is provided as is
House Rules is free and provided as is and as available. To the extent the law allows, Wunderwerk LLC gives no warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, lost data or lost profits, and its total liability for any claim is limited to 100 US dollars. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have by law that cannot be waived.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with its effective date and tell you about important changes in the app. If you keep using House Rules after changes take effect, the new Terms apply.
